Jayson Thomas, B.A., LL.B., J.D.

Jayson is a battle tested trial and appellate civil litigator. He began his career at one of Canada's oldest and largest corporate law firms, where he represented multinational public and privately held corporations in commercial and corporate disputes. Since then, Jayson has acted successfully as lead counsel in trials before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and lead appellate counsel in appeals and judicial reviews before the Ontario Divisional Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Canada. Many of Jayson's cases have been reported in provincial and national case law reports and media sources including the Toronto Sun, the Toronto Star, and the National Post.

In addition to acting for clients involved in civil disputes, Jayson is frequently sought out and retained by other lawyers and law firms to provide legal opinions on complex legal matters and to appear at various of levels of court on their behalves.

Jayson has significant experience representing individuals and businesses in contractual disputes, employment matters, shareholder and partnership disputes, real property litigation (including commercial leasing), and negligence claims. Additionally, he has extensive experience in advancing applications and motions for injunctions.

Jayson devotes a significant amount of his time to pro bono litigation. He recently represented an individual successfully in response to a judicial review application and a subsequent appeal to the highest level of court in Ontario advanced by a leading Bay Street law firm on behalf of the Chief of Police and the Toronto Police Services Board in a high profile, precedent setting human rights case. Jayson is also on the roster list for the Pro Bono Law Association of Ontario's Court of Appeal duty counsel panel.

Jayson graduated with a B.A. in Economics from York University, and earned his law degrees from the University of Windsor (LL.B.) and the University of Detroit Mercy (J.D., magna cum laude).
